BBC RADIO DRAMA REP COMPANY 2018

I am absolutely THRILLED to announce that I’ve recently joined the official BBC Radio Drama REP company for 2018!

I’ll be joining a host of wonderful actors to bring you some kick-ass radio drama for the new year, and boy has it got off to a fun start already! My first play I’m recording is actually TOMORROW (eeek!) with the wonderful Emma Harding who I worked on The Good Terrorist with.  The play I’m recording tomorrow is called Polygamy For Girls by Julie Mayhew and it is absolutely cracking, it’s part of a new feminist season called RIOT GIRLS and it’s a total celebration of female-written and female character led drama.

Can’t wait to share some stories and bring these characters to life, I’ll post all the iPlayer links to everything I’ve worked on as and when they air!

RIGOLETTO AT THE ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

Happy 2018 everyone!

Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve been playing a ‘dark and tortured soul’ these past couple of months at the Royal Opera House in David McVicar’s dark and dangerous Rigoletto, and it’s been an absolute JOY!  I’m a big fan of playing historical harlot type characters for some reason (maybe I had a crazy past life as one, who knows?!) so I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to dress like this and being a part of this wonderful production!

If you would like to watch the show, it’s actually being streamed LIVE all around the world on Tues 16th January, and then it’s also being repeated on the 21st January 2018!  You can check out the link here to find out which cinema near you it’s available to watch in: https://www.roh.org.uk/cinemas

Really looking forward to the last show on Tuesday, very sad to say goodbye but what an incredible experience to have performed in one of the most famous and historical performance spaces in London!

If anyone would like to cast me as a London harlot in a period drama, please do.  I’m very convincing!

BBC Radio 4 ‘The Good Terrorist’ & Summer 2017 Update!

BBC RADIO 4: The Good Terrorist

Last month I went in to record for my first BBC Radio 4 drama directed by the amazing Emma Harding (who is also ex-Drama Studio London!) and got to meet Sarah Daniels who adapted the Doris Lessing novel ‘The Good Terrorist’ for the radio.  It’s a 10 part series which is due to air in Feb 2018.  Absolute dream to work opposite yet another ex-DSL student – the fantastic Olivia Vinall!  Here’s a picture of us having a lovely time.

DOWN TO A SUNLESS SEA

Just before going to the BBC, I played the role of ‘Narrator’ in Maartens Lourens’ darkly comic dystopian ‘Down To A Sunless Sea’ book launch at Hackney House, in which the audience were lead through the ‘eggplant’ and into the depths of Lord Blackmore’s lair.  It was an incredible experience and great to dress like a tudor for it! The book is available now to purchase and I would highly recommend it.

THE FEMALE GAZE: VOLUME 3 SPELLBOUND

Following meeting one half of the incredibly inspiring Rich Creatives theatre company during the Down To A Sunless sea experience, I came on board to play Fran in Rachel Salisbury’s ‘Mooncalves’, which premiered at the Cockpit Theatre last month.  It was a sell-out event and our piece received a fantastic review from West End Wilma, noting how “this was a particular stand-out script for me, and received a very strong reaction from an engaged audience, particularly because of the high energy and quality of acting” (WEST END WILMA)

THE WALK

And lastly, but by no means least, on Monday this week I was given the opportunity (/challenge) to learn a Scottish accent over the weekend ready to record for a new radio podcast entitled THE WALK, directed by the fantastic Carl Prekopp (who was my BBC Carleton Hobbs radio coach), and also starring native and beautiful Scot Tracy Wiles (who was also my BBC Carleton Hobbs radio coach!) – what a dream!

Earthquakes in London Production Pictures!

Here they are – I loved every second of playing Jasmine in Mike Bartlett’s Earthquakes in London, directed by the fabulous Rikki Beadle-Blair at the New Diorama!

I really hope I can play this fiesty little minx again soon one day.  Until next time Jasmine..

BBC Soundstart Party & NEXT APPEARING IN

It was a total honour and privilege to be invited along to BBC Broadcasting House last Friday where the BBC Radio Drama family welcomed us new recruits to the team with open arms! It was a fantastic night and I can’t wait to get started on some radio drama projects later this year with them.

And finally, I am incredibly excited to announce that I’ll be playing Jasmine in Mike Bartlett’s fantastic EARTHQUAKES IN LONDON on the 26th and 27th July.  The play is being directed by the sensational Rikki Beadle-Blair, and rehearsals have just begun.  I for one can’t wait!

Please contact boxoffice@dramastudiolondon.co.uk for tickets!

White Irish Drinkers

I’m thrilled to be working with an old friend of mine from the National Youth Theatre Mickey Mason on his brilliantly crafted short film ‘White Irish Drinkers’.  I’m playing the role of Sarah, alongside writer and actor Mickey Mason, John Travers and Arabella Nash.  Over the moon to be working with the wonderful director Felim O’Kelly once again too!

Here’s a couple of sneaky BTS shots from shoot day 1!

Drama Studio London Showcase at the Soho Theatre!

Last Tuesday (30th May) the graduating students from Drama Studio London had our first West End industry showcase!  It was a great turn out, and it was lovely to catch up with some fantastic old and new friends and colleagues who are creating wonderful things in the world of theatre and entertainment right now.  Here’s a picture of us afterwards (pre-cocktail bar trip!) – all smiles!

Thank you to all of those that attended and for your kind words!  Brendan Murray and Gillian King did a wonderful job of creating a slick and ensemble style showcase.

For those of you that unfortunately couldn’t make it, I have new casting announcements coming up which I am extremely excited to share!

GO TEAM DSL!

BBC Carleton Hobbs Runner Up Prize!

Hello all!

So, after weeks of late night rehearsals ‘dancing’ round the microphone under the supervision and tutoring of the legendary Carl Prekopp and Tracy Wiles, I am so thrilled to announce that I was awarded one of the runner up prizes at this year’s BBCCarleton Hobbs Bursary Award competition!

It was an honour to represent Drama Studio London, and as a team it was BBC Carleton Hobbs joy all round as we were awarded in total 2 winners, 1 runner up, a commendation for our group piece, solo commendations for both mine and Isabella Inchbald’s sight reading pieces, and double commendations for BOTH sets of duologues (both takes!) – which is a BBC Carleton Hobbs first! Not too shabby for Drama Studio London!

I am now looking forward to being cast in my first BBC Radio Drama later this year and to work with the wonderful Tracey Neale, who has been assigned to me as my BBC Radio Drama mentor.
